Conversion Description

Our lovely hand built campervan, Meringue, is sadly going up for sale due to a change in personal circumstances.

It is registered with Quirky Campers and will come with all the pots, pans and everything else needed for the new owner to continue hiring her out straight away, if you wish to continue with it as a business. The contract with Quirky Campers can also be terminated at any time if you want it for personal use.

It has had a very successful first year hire wise, with 85 confirmed nights, averaging £78 a night which gives a turnover of over £6600. We have had a few enquiries for the end of this year and next year, however, we asked the people interested to check again once the sale has gone through.

Before we bought it in 2017, the van was used as a courier van, moving people and parcels between Spain – UK. So although it has higher than average mileage, it has been very well maintained.

Seating and sleeping:
– 3 belted seats in the front cab;
– fixed double bed at the back, that measures 177cm x 135cm;
– L shaped sofa that can also be turned into a small single, 180cm x 52cm (by taking the drawers under the wardrobe out);

Kitchen:
– the kitchen is located behind the cab area and has a Spinflo Triplex gas cooker (3 burner hob and oven) with a large drawer under the cooker for pots and pans;
– Mexican tiles are used as splashback around the sink and cooker;
– test tube spice rack with copper supports on the side of the wardrobe, next to the cooker;
– large sink with a home-made copper tap that feeds through a submersible pump from a 25l jerry can (waste going in a 25l jerry can as well, both stored underneath the sink);

Storage:
– behind the drivers seat, and next to the cooker, we have a small wardrobe with 2 drawers underneath it;
– the L shaped sofa has a 21 litre pull-out 12v fridge (Dometic TCX21) and 5 drawers (+a dirty laundry space hidden in the corner);
– 4 more drawers can be found under the bed, accessible from the inside with a lot of extra storage underneath the bed (accessible via the back doors);
– small pop-up table wrapped in copper;
– shoe cupboard/storage underneath the sink;
– small bookshelf above the bed;

Heating:
– is provided by a Propex HS2000 gas heater with thermostat control;
– there is a 7kg Calor gas bottle stored under the sink, in a sealed and vented locker, that supplies the cooker and heater (copper pipes used outside the vented locker);

Electrics:
– Fiamma Turbo Vent in the centre of the van;
– 2x100ah AGM batteries (replaced under warranty in January 2019);
– 2x100w solar panels + 15a MPPT charger (all Vicron Energy);
– Durite split charge relay;
– NASA battery monitor;
– 8 USB sockets in total + 12V socket;
– 5 dimmable LEDs + 1 LED in the toilet;
– no 220v or hook-up, with the van being self-sufficient under normal use (could be added without too much trouble);

Toilet:
– small cubicle with a Thetford chemical toilet and several storage baskets;

Windows and privacy:
– tinted windows in both back doors and side door;
– blackout and thermal curtains on the back doors, side door and cab
