Front cab is in brilliant condition, It’s really clean, there is slight wear to the bolster on the drivers seat but that is the worst it gets.
Why the conversion?
I was working at a Campervan conversion company and decided to do this project over the Lockdown period to keep me busy, I wanted to build something to my own style and design, but i also loved to idea of building a camper that would allow people to enjoy getting back out in the world when restrictions eased up.
The plan with “Winston” (Continuing with the name is optional!) was to create a multipurpose day/weekend van with 5 belted seats for travelling, Friends and family’s can enjoy this van with you too!
-Winston has be fully insulated using celotex insulation, recycled plastic insulation, and a vapour barrier. This has been carried out everywhere throughout the van, the floor, walls, doors even above the cab, so you will be kept warm even in the winter months.
-extensive sound deadening throughout van
-A 5kw diesel heater is mounted underneath the drivers seat for when it does get cold. Thermostat control panel mounted in rear of van and there is a key fob to remotely switch on and off the heater too. This heater combined with the extensive insulation means that this van is definitely an all year round adventure camper.
-Internally it is clad with wood to give a more homely feel, to protect the wood, it has been painted on the walls and varnished on the roof.
-Side windows installed, both with sliding openers.
-Rear widows installed, all windows are dark Limo tinted which is good for stopping the sun heat and provides privacy.
-25l underslung gas tank (this tank has a large capacity, costs about £14 to fill up and lasts months and months), it is connected to the twin hob and a quick connect BBQ point inside the sliding door, electric gas level display is mounted above sink. Filling point is hidden behind a plastic trim near the drivers door. Tank is powder coated from the factory but i have added three coats of stone chip paint to protect it.
-All cabinet and seat units are painted in a hard wearing washable paint, which i have tried out and its great to remove the dirt easily.
-55l underslung fresh water tank, filling point on side of van, and 35l waste (grey) water tank. Both tanks have drain taps that are easy to get to under the van.
-Custom built over cab shelf for storage and retrimmed factory headlining , this is also good to hang a curtain from if you wish.
-Two dometic 400mm x 400mm skylights fitted to provide natural light and ventilation, these have built in blinds and fly screens.
-Fiamma F80s awning, 3200mm long and extends out up to 2500mm from the van to provide a huge shaded seating area beside the van.
– A large rear seating and table area that can easily seat 5, more if you want to squeeze.
– One of the two beds is made up above this rear seating area (takes a few minutes), and measures 1650 x 1200 with a slightly narrower foot end. The bed mattress is made up from the seat bases and backrests which provide very comfortable sleeping area.
-Rear rock and roll seat (m1 crash tested) converts to a bed (950mm x 1800mm).
-Both rear seats have large storage areas underneath.
-Handmade curtains fit onto all rear windows to create a cosy private sleeping environment.
-All seat cushions are made using a high quality reflex foam, and upholstered in a waterproof canvas style material, which is perfect for easy cleaning.
-Bespoke cabinet with solid oak work top which houses
-Dometic twin hob and sink unit.
-Three large push to open drawers, which include custom built plate and glass storage.
-Shelf under sink provides storage area, or a space for an appliance of choice (coffee machine is my choice!) 230v socket is mounted in this area which is powered from the onboard inverter.
-Below the shelf is shurflow water pump and fammia water accumulator
-Second cabinet with a large solid oak work top houses a 50l 12v/230v absorption fridge
-The oak worktops and table have been treated with a minimum of 5 layers of danish oil to protect
Under drivers seat –
Votronic 30amp Battery to battery charger, this provides a true charge cycle to the leisure battery unlike a standard split charge relay.
Epever tracer MPPT – this unit provides a very efficient charge to the battery from the roof mounted solar panel
12v Fuse box – all outputs to the 12v systems are fused from this easy access point.
10amp 230v battery charger – will charge up your batteries whilst at home before your trip or whist you are at a camp site.
1500w inveter – powerful inverter will provide power for appliances of choice, i have tested with a 800w microwave and nespresso machine and both work perfectly, you don’t have to but ideal to run the engine to save the precious battery power!
130amp/hr leisure battery
System in van –
-150w mono crystalline solar panel, high quality panel from alpha batteries to provide power during day light and charge the battery for the evenings. This set up allows you to be “off grid” when camping if you wish.
-2x double usbs in rear of van.
-230v hookup point situated on rear passenger side of van.
-230v MCB/RCD unit located under rear seat.
-230v socket powered from the electrical hookup situated above fridge unit.
-2 x 230v powered from inverter system, one housed in kitchen unit, another in the storage unit behind passenger seat, inverter control is also in this unit.
-12v lighting in rear of van broken into three groups, all switch by touch dimmers.
-12v spotlights mounted at the sliding door and rear doors to provide outside lighting
-Electronic fresh water and waste water tank level panel
-12v power socket mounted behind front seats, can be used for extra cool boxes or inflatable pumps etc.
