A handcrafted camper van is about more than just a vehicle you can live in, it is about owning a unique and conversation provoking personal space.
We began the conversion with a vision of what would become such a wonderful van, but with inspiration from others who had realised their dream.
The outcome is every bit as good as we had hoped with the hand crafted quality of the work.
The fabric used to create the theme is a real feature. It adds texture and a warm tactile feel.
The bed is a full double and very spacious. There is no having to put it away during the day and out at night. This means you can relax on it whenever you like and charge your batteries in comfort.
The third berth is created by bridging the two bench seats to make an ample single bed.
“You cannot have enough storage” is what everyone says. So we catered for this.
Underneath the bed on the inside are two very large storage areas. In one side are the van’s own table and chairs (which match the theme and fabric on the interior), the other side offers free space for whatever your needs are.
Further to this are the cupboard and draws at the back of the van. The draws are long and deep. The cupboard is useful and has a removable panel behind which is the gas safe cabinet (vented through the floor).
Even more storage is available under the bench seats and kitchen.
COOKING AND WASHING
The vintage combination of copper pan sink and coffee maker tap are a central feature in the kitchen. The water runs off an electric pump.
The top class Dometic double burner sits next to the sink.
These are all backed with a frame of genuine Moroccan tiles.
There is a full electric hook up for those days when you fancy the convenience of a dedicated camp site. When you are off-grid you are supported by 160 Watts of solar panel. The battery is 110Ah.
There are two plug sockets and two USB ports.
The fridge currently runs off mains hook-up, but can also be used with gas or 12v.
The light in the bed area is a lovely hand made pipe-light.
All the electrics are routed through a central single Power Management System.
OTHER IMPORTANT STUFF
The table is an old vintage drinks trolly, the like of which we have not seen anywhere else. It retracts when not needed. Under the table is yet more storage in the draw which matches the design on the table.
The toilet is housed under one of the bench seats. It is easily accessible and very convenient.
The striking parquet floor is real hardwood and is the final piece in the wow-factor jigsaw.
The cab is spacious and comfortable for three passengers to travel in.
We have put lots of great features in the van already, but there is loads of potential to add to it to your heart’s content.
It comes with the canopy and a fixed rail. The rail could be use with a drive away awning. Also included are table and chairs which match the van theme.
