I have always had a dream to design and convert a VW T5 van. I had intended to keep the van for my personal use (however, emigration to NZ during a pandemic has made that impossible), and so ensured that all elements of the van were designed for ease of use and maximum comfort. I have crafted the interior of the camper myself, ensuring that all features and additions (from the fridge to the gas cooker) were of the highest quality as well as genuinely VW manufactured where possible.

– All fully insulated (floor, walls and ceiling) with sheep’s wool and foil insulation moisture layer
– Floors fitted with engineered oak floor boards (light but incredibly durable)

FURNITURE FEATURES:
– Futon-style sofa bed that is securely bolted and can be pulled out easily
– Curved unit fitted with gas-strut mechanism for easily accessibly storage (shaped to ease flow into the van)
– Storage unit under sofa cushions at head of the bed (gas-strut fitted) – hidden fuse box and leisure battery charger installed
– 2 under bed storage cupboards (one with consumer unit, 240v plugs and USB) – both carpet lined and fitted with oak doors
– Base of bed storage tower that includes: toilet compartment (with chemical toilet), installed ‘Dometic’ CRX50 fridge/freezer, double-shelved storage cupboard, elastic tie attached to the back for external furniture
– Cooker/sink unit fitted with accessible, certified gas box (includes gas bottle); 20L water bottle with water pump and tap switch on sink installed; 10L waste water bottle for drainage; dual gas burner hobs with glass covering that acts as a splash back; and a small cutlery drawer under hobs (removed to access isolation switch)
– Removable table with top and leg stored in rear of van – base plate installed in the floor

ELECTRICAL FEATURES:
– Leisure battery under drivers seat with a split charge relay (charges both when driving or hooked up to 240v hook up)
– All interior electrics run off the hidden fuse box (in the storage unit behind driver’s seat)
– x4 LED touch lights installed in the ceiling and x2 touch down lights for reading/cooking
– Power for sink tap, fridge, USBs and battery level checker all run off leisure battery
– 240v hook up on the rear driver’s side of the van
– Consumer unit and dual plug with USB port under the bed
– Single 240v plug next to x2 USB ports located on the storage tower
– Leisure battery level checker located on the storage tower
– ‘Dometic’ CRX50 fridge
– Battery pack powered fairy lights (switch located inside top cupboard of storage tower)
