Classic 1976 VW Bay Window Campervan

Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

Betty is a 76 classic bay window camper. She runs fantastic, engine is in great working order. Bodywork is great condition as well, there is minor wear and tear you would expect. Tax & MOT exempt, has current MOT done last September and will happily get a new one done on sale.
I have as full a service history as it’s possible to have for a van which has had all the previous owners. She is on her second engine. This one was replaced in 1997 and has currently done 101,467 miles. She had a total overhaul in 2010, when she was stripped right back, had new doors, panels and bellypans before a respray to her current beautiful vintage Oceanic Blue colour. That resto was refreshed in 2017, when she had another door replaced and some minor bodywork dinks sorted.
The inside it basic, but totally serviceable, there is a rear bench with three seatbelts which turns into a rock n roll bed. The original pop top bellows and mechanism work well and the original hammocks are still in place. There are curtains for the windows and a propex heater under the back seat. A leisure battery is installed and can run the heater and speaker system easily. It is also ready to have more wired in if you wanted.
The pop top still works great for its age and when up lets me stand comfortably. (I am 180cm tall)
This would be perfect if someone wanted a project to customise the interior or kit it out with a new bespoke look without having to restore any bodywork or mechanical aspects. The interior would be easy to take out an replace and be a perfect blank canvas. She is perfectly ready to go for weekend trips if you are not interested in that though!
She has been insulated with DODO van insulation.
I am happy to give a breathable cover and full insulated window covers/matts for the whole van if you wanted them with it as well.
I would love to keep her but I am having to move soon so it’s time for her to find a new family.
Please get in contact if you want more photos, info or to come and have a look at her.
