A carpenter by trade I decided to convert this van to potentially progress into a new business venture. All units and bed have been personally hand made in my workshop.
The van has been stripped back to the bare metal and now has fully insulated walls, floor and ceiling. There is new ply lining fitted to the walls which have been carpeted in blue. The floor has been ply lined, followed by underlay and oak laminate flooring. The ceiling has been cladded with pine tongue & groove.
The units and rock and roll bed have been made from 12mm birch ply, allowing the furniture to be lightweight whilst keeping its strength. There is also steel runners under the bed to add additional support.
To add a bit more character the kitchen worktop has been cut from a live edge slab of yew, which has a Smev 1922 sink with double gas hob dropped into it. The tap is wired up to 12v control panel allowing with a flip of a switch to activate the water pump, allowing fresh flowing water from the 10 Gallon fresh water tank underneath. The sink itself is plumbed to allow the grey water to empty into a 10 Gallon grey water tank which also sits underneath. The gas is supplied by a 6kg calor gas bottle, fastened securely in the gas storage cupboard.
There are 4 LED spotlights which a beautifully integrated into a live edge red cedar board which is mounted to the ceiling. There is also LED strip lighting to the underside of the yew worktop, ready for those mid night snacks. Both lights have an independent switch on the 12v control panel.
A 25 litre plug in cool box is located under the sink and is compatible with 240v mains and 12v mains. It can also be used as a heat box if you want to keep food warm.
There is a newly installed 95 ah leisure battery which can be charged either from the main battery when driving or when you are hooked up on a camp ground by the 240v supply. There is a 12v control panel, which itself includes 6 switches, 2 USB sockets and one 12v socket. The 240v supplies power to 4 standard plug sockets.
