Despite the announcement of minor changes to lockdown rules made on 10th May, it is our understanding that campervan rentals for holiday purposes are still prohibited.
The essential travel guidance states “Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar, whether for isolation purposes or holidays. People must remain in their primary residence. Not taking these steps puts additional pressure on communities and services that are already at risk.”
We are still hiring vans for essential workers, emergency accommodation and those that need to shield vulnerable family members. In addition, we cannot imagine all the reasons that people may require a campervan that fall within current guidelines, so it is your responsibility to ensure that you are doing so when making a booking.
Please always refer to the latest government guidance.
We are offering cost-price accommodation for NHS and other key workers – you can find more info here.
Booking Holidays for the Summer and Beyond
We know that it’s difficult to plan and book holidays when there’s a potential risk that you may not be able to travel later, due to government advice.
That’s why we’ve introduced risk-free flexible bookings to allow you to make any new 2020 holiday booking with confidence.
If you make a new holiday booking, to commence on any date in 2020 (we suggest you don’t book trips before July), in any van, we will allow you to change your dates, penalty-free if there is government advice against travel either in your home location or the van location.
This means that you can book your adventure knowing that your money is safe – a kind of ‘free insurance’ – provided by Quirky Campers. This offer alters our standard Terms and Conditions.
How does it work?
Say you book a campervan for August 2020 in April 2020. In July, the government advice is announced against travel for August. You contact us and we allow you to move to new dates that suit you, without any penalty or administration fee.
We ask that any changes are made in good time, and no later than 48 hours before your departure date. This is to be fair to our campervan owners.
If you choose to move dates we’ll accommodate changes to any date in 2020 or even 2021. If the new holiday is of greater value you can top it up, or if it is of lesser value we’ll issue you a credit note for the difference. We ask that you take the new break in the same campervan to allow our owners to plan income and investment.
Note – if you have an imminent holiday (commencing before 9 May 2020) you can move dates penalty-free no matter when you made the booking – just email firstname.lastname@example.org. Bookings up until 15th May are only for essential travel, self isolation or emergency accommodation.
Thank you everyone for your kind support in these difficult times.
