Conversion StoryDave was originally a Sky installation Ford Transit van. We bought it in April 2017 after a year of planning, searching Pinterest and instagram for ideas! We chose a short wheel base van for ease of driving and parking.
We wanted Dave to have a vintage feel and fell in love with a pair of French chateaux window shutters that were the inspiration for design. We scoured antique shops, reclamation yards and car boot sales for materials we could incorporate into his interior. He took us 6 weeks to convert, with us stripping him down to a shell. We used reclaimed roof timbers for the shelving and framework and even managed to find a beautiful oak gate which was originally from the Dunlop factory which we have used for the bulkhead partition. The overhead lockers and curtain pole are finished in aged copper. We wanted to be able to climb on top of Dave so that we could sit and stargaze and so had a custom made roof terrace built!
