We had a fantastic trip in Blubelle - she has everything we neededLiz Doy ~ April 2018
Well done Skippy for making Blubelle, She’s pretty & smart. Five Stars!David ~ August 2018
Blubelle was a joy to drive & a pleasure to sleep in. The whole process of hiring, pickup & drop off was so easy. I enjoyed it so much I'm already planning to hire Blubelle for a trip next year.Lucy K ~ September 2018
Note: The hire of this vehicle is arranged by Quirky Campers ltd acting as the agent on behalf of Blubelle's owners. Their dream was to create a comfortable and tranquil space, which could enable off-grid solitude or connection with a like-minded community. To this end you will find a solar panel for power and a woodburner for heat when you need it. Plus, a cleverly stowed-away portable toilet to use if you wish.
Her craftsmanship is exquisite while her interior walks the line between serene simplicity and warm homeliness. Perfect for groups or families with 5 belted seats and 5 beds, her design adapts to her hosts. Our favourite feature is the clever multi-functional bunks which fold down into a sofa or up for bike storage. At 6' they are long enough for an adult and with optional sides they are also suitable for smaller people
So, take a break from jumping through hoops and regain your balance in Blubelle.

Conversion StoryBlubelle's roots are buried deeply in performing arts and Circus, with a dream of living off grid in beautiful locations.
My wife Kati and I (Skippy) come from a dance & contemporary circus background. We met while performing at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics 2012.
In 2013 we spent a month touring California with time spent in the wonderful cosmopolitan and forward thinking San Francisco, camping in many a wild water spots, climbing in Yosemite National Park and then onto the extraordinary madness that is The Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert, where the incredible art cars, and a love of all things wood, ignited a spark of an idea.
When our son Luca was born in 2014, our lives and focus shifted and the joy of being with him gave us the impetus to create our dream, Blubelle.
The circus world is a loving family and you will find people with many wonderful artistic talents, so we pulled together-
John Beresford a world-famous street performer who lives with his family on a beautiful boat, for wood, wood and more wood.
Simon Scofield a world class aerialist and acrobalance performer, who lives in a yurt in peaceful woodland, for the roof canvas, and help with so many other things. We coppiced, stripped and seasoned all the Hazel from his woodland.
Rhys; an artist and sparky, another family boat dweller, to wire me up and advise on off grid technology and life in general.
Tom Cherry a sculptural metal worker and fabricator, who worked on the mutoid waste vehicles for the para Olympic, to create the unique and bespoke woodburner from salvaged steel from the local scrapyards.
And none of this could have been achieved without the help of James a philosopher, engineer and up-cycler whose warehouse space Blubelle lived in for the first 4 months of her new life and out of which came ideas, dreams and all the insulation, flooring and many little handy bits (recycle everything).
Darryl Carrington an up and coming comedian, juggler teacher and like-minded cycle enthusiast who warehouse space Blu spent the second part of her life along with lots of Circus paraphernalia.
Jamie Walker a world class diabolo performer & juggler and who's first-hand knowledge (he owns the van Maya), advice and patience (I asked him way too many questions) helped our dream to rise.
Sandy McClure a super visionary photographer and dear friend who patiently shot all my detail requests (hours and hours) and made Blu look as fine as she is, even though it rained on us.
And lastly David Ffrench himself an environmental engineer, self-build expert and man with a vision, for all his expert guidance and Blu's stunning fridge door.
All these people did SO much more that they were asked or paid to and have injected love and friendship into Blubelle and our family, we all share a common dream of peace and equality and our lives are richer for the experience.
So, here's Blu an art car that can go and find peace and tranquillity or community and entertainment to wash off everyday life and breath for a moment with family, friends or blissful solitude.

Travelling with Children
Blubelle is suitable for travelling with children.
Due to having a wee one, three and a half, (and number two on the way) we made sure the van is very child friendly and as safe as possible, you can fit two child seats in the front, rear facing if necessary, the main draws have locks on, the wood burner has a safety guard that fixes in front of it. The two bunks have tough fabric supports that will stop a child from rolling out and the top bunk has a foot hole to help get up and down. The bunks have been designed to be individual fun spaces, with lovely character curtains that shut out the rest of the van. The top bunk has hot air balloons floating by and the bottom bunk has a wild flower meadow with butterfly's fluttering around (a few butterfly's have fluttered off around the van, see if you can find them). Each has a small personal storage compartment, for those secret items, and both have their own switched led lighting. The top bunk also has 2 USB charging points.
Pet PolicySorry no pets allowed inside the vehicle
