Large enough to accommodate a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) or 3 mates wanting to travel together, Herb is a great size for a home on wheels.
Herb can be used on both your summer and winter travels, fully insulated and with the use of a wood burner to keep you cosy in the colder months.
He has a full working kitchen with 2 ring gas hob, kitchen with running hot water and fridge, with lots of worktop space so cooking enthusiasts can still rustle up a proper meal.
The use of natural wood and reclaimed tin and copper give Herb a wonderful rustic feel. He has endless storage for all the family with the use of the the under-seat bench area, kitchen cupboards and over head cab shelf. Plus your very own branch to hang up your coat on too!
Herb has a really cosy seating area that can seat up to 6 comfortably, for those days when you want to just listen to the rain patter on the roof, or play one of his many board games. He has lots of books to keep the kids and adults occupied!
The seating area doubles up as a very large bed so you can get a comfortable nights sleep, and there is a double bunk bed for the kids too.

Conversion StoryAfter a doing a lot of research and viewing many different types of panel vans for our conversion, we finally found the perfect one to become Herb! The van was originally a white panel van used for removal hire, so it had minimal wear and tear which was good. It has a LWB and a high roof perfect size for our family of 4 and our van pup! When we purchased the van it was in a great condition mechanically which was very important to us, with a replaced engine and most importantly we chose the ADBlue model which is better on fuel consumption and emissions. It came with a full service history and up to date MOT's, a great blank canvas for our conversion.
We knew exactly how we wanted Herb to look and to function for us as a family, however we didn't quite have the practical capabilities to make our vision a reality...so we sought out the help of Jim & the team at Shred & Butta who were amazing and completely understood how we wanted Herb to look and work. We wanted to create a rustic homely feel to Herb and to bring the nature inside, so the use of lots of natural wood helped to create this look. Some of our favourite features in Herb are the reclaimed tin roof for our wood burner surround, an old fire station brushed copper water hose as one of our kitchen lights, as well as an oxidised copper sink all the way from Egypt with handmade copper tap.
As a family with two kids and a puppy, storage was key and also having a place for everything in the van, so I love that we have masses of storage under the two bench seats, as well as under the kitchen, and a nifty use of the cab area with a shelf for clothes and towels etc, also the branch hooks by the door are so useful for tidying away all our coats and shoes. The final main requirement that we desperately wanted for Herb was the ability to be off grid, and we have achieved this with the use of solar panels. We've also recently installed a battery converter so that when you're driving your're charging the battery, perfect for cloudy days when the solar panels need a bit of help! Meaning we really can go anywhere in Herb with no planning needed! The overall build from when we first bought the van took about 12 weeks and it was an amazing process to be part of.

Travelling with Children
Herb is suitable for travelling with children.
Kids will love the big bunk bed in Herb, with their own little ladder to access the bed and their very own dreamcatcher. The double bunk has a metal rail connected for safety too. Our kids love sleeping above us and being close enough for us to tickle their toes! Younger kids can travel in the front cab with space for their car seats. For older kids they may wish to sit on the bench seats in the back of the van with a view out the back and a table to chill out by. We do have a wood burner, so very little ones should be careful not to touch when the fire is on! Kids will love the back door portholes and collection of kids games in the underseat storage for rainy days.
