As his name suggests, Sir James is dead posh. Hop in and you’ll find ingenious planning makes great use of space, with plenty of beds and seats, all beautifully upholstered. A kitchen with fridge and running hot water, toilet/shower, 240v electrical hook-up and a gas heater will take care of your other creature comforts.
Everything’s built and finished to a professional, modern standard and, being a Volkswagen T5, he’s reliable and easy to drive, too.

Conversion Story

Sir James was built by Buzz of Retro Tourer Ltd. He wanted a practical family campervan that looked cool and retro.
It's original used was a pick up van used by tradesmen. The body is made of aluminium and the conversion was carried out in Devon.

Sir James has a Full size double (120cm x 190cm), single bed above the cab (90cm x 190cm) and a small bed single on front seats (50cm x 140cm) which accommodates:

Where is Sir James?

Sir James lives in a part of Liverpool called Huyton. It's about 20 mins from liverpool airport and a ten minute walk from the local train station.

Street parking is available: If you are coming by car you are welcome to park it where Sir James is usually parked.

Sir James has comprehensive insurance specifically for hiring of campervans that covers drivers which meet the following citeria:

Ages: between 23 and  75 years young
Nationality*: UK or EU driver’s licenses
Length held: Minimum 2 years
Points*: Up to two minor offenses in the past 5 years is OK (no more than 6 points)
Claims*: No more than 1 claim in the past 5 years

*NOTE: These items are flexible but the campervan owner will need to refer the driver's details to the insurer and may require some additional information. 

International Drivers from most countries can be covered but the excess is likely to be higher. USA, CA, NZ or AU have always been a yes and often with the standard excess.

The full booking form will ask for all the relevant details but feel free to drop us an email if you have any questions. There is an excess of between £500 and £1000 in the event of any damage to the vehicle. This amount is set by the insurer and is dependant on driver age, convictions, claims and country of issue (for a UK driver with a clean license it will be £500).

Travelling with Children

Sir James is suitable for travelling with children.

The top bunk is a full size single bed and could maybe squeeze 2 littlest ones up there (90cm x 190cm). The front bed is suitable for a child up to about 10 years old (50cm x 140cm).

Pet Policy

We have a ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ policy with pets. In other words we’re happy for you to take your dog as long as you bring it back in a condition that we never would have known!

European Travel

Yes you can take Sir James across the water but there will be an additional charge to cover EU insurance and EU breakdown. This will vary but we expect it to be around £70 per week.
