Camp Quirky is going diesel free! (don’t worry, we just mean power for the festival, we’re not excluding diesel vans). In 2019 we will be running a low impact festival. We will be powering all of the site electrics (stage, bar, lighting etc.) purely from solar energy generated on site. As well as workshops in all things campervan related, we will also be hosting workshops on sustainable living and ways of reducing our impact on the environment in these delicate times Something to offer? If you can offer workshops, talks or are a performer and would like to get involved then we would love to hear from you, we are open to all ideas so please do get in touch We are also still looking for caterers who can run on very little or zero electric, if this is you then please email For volunteering opportunities please email

Where did the idea for a handmade campervan festival come from?

We didn’t originally intend for Camp Quirky to be a handmade campervan festival. It started out as simply an opportunity for Quirky Campers vans and owners to come together. To swap stories, share tips and learn from each other. However, it has quickly outgrown this modest aim… When the limited number of tickets available to the public for this year’s event sold out in a week(!) we realised this event is much bigger than us… There was such a hunger from a range of self-builders, professional converters and vanlife bloggers for an event aimed at people like them. Many people had tried out the VW festivals or the motorhome shows, but just didn’t get what they were looking for. Camp Quirky provided them with real self-built inspiration. A range of sizes and types of van, every layout you could imagine, technical tips and style ideas. We want to be able to welcome lots more of you, for the whole weekend, and in your own campervans if you have them. Don’t worry if you haven’t you are more than welcome to attend in a caravan, tent, or rock up on a bicycle and sleep in a hammock! Or of course you could hire a Quirky Campers campervan for the weekend.

What can I expect from Camp Quirky 2019?

We will be growing the festival in 2019 but are working hard to maintain the same friendly and intimate feel. If you come along you can expect to meet lots of friendly people who are as excited as you about campervans. We encourage people to open up their campers (if they are so inclined) so you can expect to nose round dozens (if not hundreds) of other campers and welcome many people into yours if you have one. Don’t be surprised if someone offers you a cup of tea (or if you’re lucky a G&T!) In addition:

  • Dozens of the Quirky Campers fleet will be on site with their doors open for you to have a nose and ask questions
  • Workshops and talks on everything from insulation to interior design, resourceful living to renewable energy
  • Stalls full of useful and beautiful items for your handmade campervan conversion from storage pouches to woodburning stoves
  • Top quality live music and entertainment
  • Childrens area with lots of activities
  • The best food stalls and bars – there will be Vegan and Gluten free options available
  • A Q&A with the Quirky Campers Directors

Can you show me what it's like?

That’s easy! We are hugely grateful to all the attendees and special guests who have put together some fantastic vlogs which give you an idea of what it’s really like to attend Camp Quirky. Here are some of our favourites from 2018:
