When you enter Silva, you might be forgiven for thinking you have somehow found your way into the enchanted kingdom of Rivendell! With her hobbity above-cab cupboard (which is incredibly spacious), her curvy kitchen, and her round back windows, enhanced with fairy lights, she really is a divinely unique creature!
She has handmade, patchwork curtains, and mismatched, lived in upholstery and cushions, which welcome the weary traveller and add a touch of playful colour. She has just enough storage for everything you might need, yet still manages to feel spacious and comfortable at the same time.
When she was built, James and Anita thought long and hard about how to enhance her best features. Being a medium wheel base van, it seemed best to keep things really simple, and this is the key to Silvaโs charm. Her kitchen is compact, but has everything you would need to cook simple nutritious meals on the road. There is a plug in cool box, to keep essentials chilled, which is helped along by the small 100w solar panel. There is also a split charge system to keep the leisure battery topped up as you drive along.
She is a 3-berth camper, with 3 safe travelling seats in the cab. She also has a rather lovely swivel seat, which can be turned around to face the ocean or equally to be part of the simple dining area, with the fold up table.
We chose the name Silva, (which means โspirit of the woodsโ) because she features lots of different kinds of wood, from recycled whisky casks, to larch, and other sustainable Scottish wood. The little sign above her window was inspired by the words of a curious little boy, who had been exploring her, and said this as she drove away…we couldnโt resist capturing his thoughts forever, it so perfectly summed up the spirit of this enchanting little campervan! We are only selling her due to illness. We will no longer be able to do Silva justice and she deserves a better home.
